#1 Added -5V regulator - have sound!
Having bought a nice Enermax NoiseTaker 600W PSU for my nice, shiny, but DualNet-less Mobo, I was dis-chuffed about the -5V issue.
I checked the specs on PSU's that have -5V and they all seem to be between 0.5 and 0.8 amp. No problemo.
I started to solder up a uA7905 -5V regulator, then remembered that I would have to cut into the main power wires to get at the -12V to feed it. Didn't want to do that. It would have worked though.
Fortunately, I had on hand a few Texas 12V to -5V switching regulator modules, all nice and self-contained, just need input and output capacitors and a minimum load of 100mA.
I now have a matchbox-sized board sitting next to the PSU, plugged into a HD connector. I took the actual pin for the MB power plug out of a blown up PSU and added it to the space in the Enermax plug.
